I will say, the U.S. government has a love-hate relationship with silicon valley... and vice versa. The Gov't (who are made up of your peers/neighbors and represent you, U.S. readers) likes the fast disruption of the old gaurd and technology caps, but hates the lack of transparency and "shrugged-off acceptance of failure" (i.e. shrugged-off responsibility for the ROI on the american tax dollar investment). S.V. loves the big checks (e.g. Andruil, Sentry AI, etc.), but hates the bearacracy of having to ultimately answer to the American people.
Regardless, the government is of course spending massive amounts of funds in AI. If they weren't, that would be ridiculous.
