FYI the 30 episode chinese version is on youtube.

I really liked their version of the panama canal scene.

I don't want to spoil anything so I'll ust leave it alone.

edit: only the first two, I think more get unlocked as you watch them.

I watched it on Prime Video (US). Pretty sure it's free to watch on Viki as well. Apparently it's a very faithful adaptation.

It's not perfect. Sometimes the music/audio quality is subpar. and there are filler scenes later on which you're better off fast-forwarding. But it's a very fun watch and it doesn't skip over the "hard" scifi stuff. I really liked it despite its faults.

amazing. i just started the audiobook [after watching NF s01], but will switch to this chinese version instead probably. thanks for sharing

I also found the first five minutes hard to watch, but for different reasons (bad screenwriting.)

I think this article says more about the author's own bias than what it says about China.

Yeah, I personally like the netflix series, but the author found some Chinese people who are mad all the Chinese characters were westernized? Of course she did, there will be people who think that.

Writing it up that way with that headline is a choice.

Interesting that this comment is obviously true, but I don't hear it applied to the west. So much reporting these days is "people are saying" when it's actually two people that the reporter saw on Twitter. This amplifies outrage, divide, and culture wars.

I get the impression it's more than just a few

There's a billion Chinese, of course it's more than "a few".

Well-written article and interesting series.
