Show HN: AdversaryMeter – assess the technical capabilities of your attackers
adversarymeter.io
AdversaryMeter is a crossover between a honeypot and a vulnerability scanner.
First, setting up AdversaryMeter is easy. You can either make a few changes to your DNS settings or use what you already have in place, like web application firewalls, to direct some of your website traffic to our special decoys.
Once it is up and running, AdversaryMeter looks closely at the data collected by these decoys to learn a lot about potential security threats that target YOU. It can tell the difference between automatic bot attacks and real hacker attempts, figure out how skilled the hackers are, identify the hacking tools and passwords they try, find out what security holes they are taking advantage of, and keep track of them even if they change their IP address.
Then, AdversaryMeter takes it a step further by using the information gathered on these decoys to create attack scenarios and replay them on your real assets, like your website's DNS or IP addresses. This is to see how well your defenses hold up against these attacks. It already has over 50 000 of these test scenarios ready to go, making sure your security is checked against many different types of threats.
Previously, our product was designed exclusively for large corporations equipped with their own Security Operations Center. Over the last year, however, we have automated many of the processes and streamlined the user interface, making it accessible and user-friendly for small and medium-sized businesses.
Unfortunately, due to legal constraints within the EU, we're unable to offer an open testing environment. However, you can still experience AdversaryMeter by signing up at https://sentinel.computablefacts.com/register, with no need to provide credit card details.
Some documentation (unfortunately again, in french at the moment) and screenshots are available here : http://docs.adversarymeter.io/adversarymeter/
