It's going to become more common I feel. A natural consequence of multinationals, particularly American, feeling they are above the law. Workers will need to do more soul searching on what multinationals they want to work for, which isn't the worst thing, but at the end of the day, it's not going to be the real decision makers that pay the price.
I'm reminded of an article I read about how people who happen to be working on shipping vessels can sometimes end up as hostages for debts of their companies, and how they often simply get abandoned for years. Life ruining stuff where the companies effectively trade years of these people's lives to buy time on debt.
