Exploring versions of the Postgres logical replication protocol

There's constant rumblings of moving towards a multiple-writer postgres. After seeing how transactions are streaming data live over these ratcheting protocols, its a little more obvious how that's something accomplishable! Different writers can each preview some of what others are writing.
Seems far harder as a consumer to accept data that might not be committed (as the latter versions enable), to buffer and handle it. Way way way harder. Unless you're just going to assume it'll be committed! But still really cool & valuable lessons here.
One thing that's been bouncing around my head since reading this, is anyone using the postgres replication protocol to send data into postgres? Would be cool for an app to just emit a stream of changes, and boom, postgres materializes your state into tables. Honestly I should just find the couple hours to prototype it out, just because, I guess, even without a use case; because we can.
