When Bluray was brand spanking new, one of the 'must get' discs for your new player and fancy TV was the Planet Earth documentary. There are plenty of plants and animal scenes that can reproduce this diversity of color and texture these days.
Diversity of color is good and all, but now you're comparing apples to humans. We're very good at knowing how her skin tones and face are supposed to look, and if something isn't right, it's nowhere near as easy for a human to visually catch the inaccuracy using exotic plants and animals.
I was thinking more cheetahs and leopards to humans.
Sure. But you could easily find a picture of a diverse group of people with lots of colors. That would have a lot of benefits. And you could make sure the license was available, or that the people were OK with it.
Yes, but it is the privilege of the people who pioneer a new human endeavor to name things and pick its arbitrary standards and inform those choices with their beliefs. I would prefer people simply register their disagreement if the issue comes up instead of seeking out trivial historical artifacts of previous social norms.
