People who think they can aren't using search engines as search engines. They're using search engines to find a specific answer to a specific question. That use case may very well be one that AI can do better.
However, that's not what a search engine is meant to do. A search engine is meant to find web sites that are related to the search term, and provide a list of them. It's an entirely different use case that constitutes most of what I want to do.
That's because they turned the address bar into a search bar.
Auto complete would be enough in most cases.
