Spain is becoming Cuba or China

5 pointsmariodev__8 comments

Recently, Spain announced a ban on Worldcoin due to "privacy concerns," and shockingly, they also threatened to ban Telegram citing piracy reasons. These extreme decisions sparked an outcry from citizens, prompting deep interrogations about the state of liberty in Spain. While it appears that these bans will not proceed, the fact that such drastic measures were nearly implemented is alarming.

Only countries like North Korea, Cuba, China have banned telegram service, just to give a bit more context.

This is really not as bad as OP makes it sound:

https://www.dw.com/en/spain-judge-halts-blocking-of-telegram...

> The order was issued on Friday by Pedraz after media companies, including Atresmedia, EGEDA, Mediaset, and Telefonica, complained that Telegram was allowing users to upload their content without permission.

> While the claims were being investigated, Pedraz agreed to block Telegram's services in Spain, as of Monday. According to the court source, it was to be the responsibility of mobile operators to block Telegram's services.

> The judge issued the order after officials in the Virgin Islands, where Telegram is registered, failed to respond to a court request from July 2023. The court wanted information that would allow it to identify who was behind the accounts in question that were uploading apparently pirated content.

> The lack of cooperation from the Virgin Islands led him to take this "precautionary measure," the judge said in Friday's order.

Yes, yes it is. Justice and Politicians are working together to lock the news but its not only in Spain but in the whole European Union. Autocracy is the new normal and citizens (at least the vast majority) are not interested in this matters.

You provide important context indeed, but still, banning such a thing has only happened in countries like the above mentioned, that is, at least, something to think about

Telegram is worrying, but the Worldcoin connection stretches OP’s credibility.

Spain is banning a crypto coin? I'm a fan of Spain.

Banning something for piracy reasons sounds more like a capitalist country.

And building a large database of iris scans isn't a "privacy concern" in quotes, it's a privacy disaster.

The tech behind it is the most recent state of the art tech in terms of privacy. Read about zero knowledge and how it works in the Orb.

And how can I get proof of their claim?

For this type of data I'm all zero trust.
