For Starlink, compare to https://starlink.sx/

That tool has been around for a few years and does a nice job predicting coverage. My favorite feature is if you click the little Jupiter icon it shows a really nice chart or orbital shells which is way easier to interpret than a map.

Some fun things I spotted:

- https://satellitemap.space/?constellation=starlink&norad=592... is rising, started recently?

- There's one over Africa that says re-entry in 30 minutes

Real-time map of every Starlink satellite in orbit

As of today, there are at least 5k starlink satellites on orbit.

It's kind of cool how you can see a border around the 54th/55th parallel. Is there a physical reason for that, or is it mostly an available markets thing?

My assumption - launching satellites at that angle (so they don’t go beyond 55th parallel - is just cost optimisation between market and how expensive it is to launch at steeper angles.

You can see satellites at steeper angles, though - not many

it's incredible how quickly this network has grown, 5 years ago this was still the realm of sci-fi — they've got thousands more satellites than any competitor
