Ask HN: Has anyone else lost access to Instagram?

8 pointskwiromeo4 comments

My wife is trying to login, and can't. The iPhone app logged out suddently in the afternoon.

She tried to use the forgot password link and get a login link sent to her email, but she checked Gmail (inbox, spam, et. al.) and there's nothing.

https://metastatus.com/ shows all status are okay so not really sure what's going on.

Any clue?

ps: I can login just fine.

There has been several unavailability reports regarding this same issue worldwide. Check on downdetector and you may see several people saying the exactly same problem. And is too early to say if this is caused by a cyber attack.

does she have a good alias for marketing? they are frequently targeted by hackers because good ID's fetch decent price on IG

She doesn't. It looks like it's happening to more than her: https://www.reddit.com/r/Instagram/comments/1bkjvow/everyone...

Yeah they covet those three letter 'OG' usernames. To be safe, turn on 2FA.
