Lots of people in the west (or specifically the US) have been deeply indoctrinated by Evangelical and leftist ideology, the former of which frames everything Israel does within a narrative of Good versus Evil, and the latter of which very often equates criticism of Israel with antisemitism - and not entirely without merit, because unfortunately a lot of it is.

I think it's difficult for a lot of Westerners to be comfortable with the premise that Israel can be simply another terrible government doing terrible things, that one can criticize Israel without being a nazi or Holocaust denier, and one can object to both Hamas as a government and October 7 while also objecting to the scale and scope of Israel's response.

West after all is build on genocide... Or at least hugely profited on it.
