Without hyperbole, this is catastrophic. If SST is that high, and given that the winds are probably juiced by it, it's quite probable that mixing has pushed the heat down more that a few metres. The heat budget must be enormous and doesn't give me a good feeling at all.
Could this be due to the ban of sulfur in shipping fuels that was passed recently (2023 or 2022 I think). Sulfur I believe changes the reflectivity of clouds and has a cooling effect. Would explain a huge heating effect immediately after its ban
