Ask HN: Do messages change/dissappear in your conversations with ChatGPT too?

5 points·toombowoombo··7 comments

I noticed it happening to me a few times and I was curious too see how common it is

To prevent such situations, I recommend using the Google Chrome extension 'Save ChatGPT to Notion.' This extension allows you to effortlessly save your chat history to Notion. Even if messages are lost or altered during the conversation, you can easily access and review previous chat records in Notion. You can download the extension from the Chrome Web Store through this link: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/bknieejaaomeegoflpg...

Short summary of other pieces of info:

- images are quite likely to dissappear, especially if there were many consecutive prompts;

- sometimes full chats dissappear;

- sometimes my prompt is replaced with a different prompt and I get totally random content;

You mean in mid-conversation or after you finish a conversation?

Either one. I first noticed in older conversations, but it happens also in current chats

I stopped using OpenAI a while ago because they never seemed good at running production.

Good at research, not so much for resilience & reliability

What are you using now?

Vertex AI, you can use Gemini and many other models there

Already deeply invested in the Google Cloud platform, everything we have runs there
