Ask HN: Does NN/AI provide new discoveries or faster implementation?

Trying to figure out if AI provides a significant benefit to society or if it functionally speeds up implementation/discovery? Altman advertises the first billion dollar 1 person company (of course he does since he's selling the tools) - but where is that value coming from? Cutting out middle men?
