(I know they have technical differences, and we can talk about that if you want, but my interest is the marketing strategy. Perhaps predefined or more probably by accident as a consequence of the tech they come up with)
Answer
Perplexity AI and OpenAI's ChatGPT serve different purposes in the realm of AI tools. Perplexity AI is primarily an AI search engine and knowledge discovery platform that focuses on providing accurate, up-to-date, and contextually relevant answers to user queries. It excels at understanding the intent behind questions, analyzing vast amounts of information, and delivering structured responses
. On the other hand, ChatGPT, developed by OpenAI, is known for generating human-like responses to user queries. It is trained on advanced language models like GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, enabling it to provide comprehensive and informative answers to a wide range of questions, even those that are open-ended or challenging
. While Perplexity is better suited for factual queries and structured information, ChatGPT shines in generating content across various formats like poems, code, scripts, and more. Additionally, ChatGPT allows users to specify the tone, style, and format of the output, giving more control over creative content generation
. In essence, Perplexity AI is geared towards search and factual information retrieval, while ChatGPT is more versatile in generating diverse content types and engaging in conversational interactions
In any case all this seems related to technical differences. I am not sure about marketing differences. Do they target different target audiences? Different kind of people?
