This is for TikTok shareholders who received shares by way of being an employee. They may or may not be employees anymore.

Theft of earned compensation is going to look great for their recruitment efforts

Pretty sure it's earned only if they fulfill their obligations. And I'm pretty sure not being negative about your employer on social media is somewhere in their contract.

Again, they don't have to be current employees, and therefore may well not be under contract.

Whatever. They literally signed a contract/shareholder agreement that says they can't do that. "muh freedumbs"

TikTok is running a master class on acting as guilty as possible when faced with allegations of wrongdoing. First the spam the congress people push notification, then the comments about shutting it down being preferable to selling US biz, now we're at threats to stakeholders.

Wild.

By your standards US social media companies are as guilty as TikTok since they have all employed the same tactics before. God, here in Brazil they did the EXACT same thing. Ask people to spam congress and threat to leave if they don't get what they want.

I disagree. It looks like they're fighting for the rights of US citizens. If you were one of the millions of people who use and like the app, you might feel the same way.

I use and like the application. I'm just skeptical of a government that doesn't allow any of our social networks in their country and expects us to allow their social networks in our country.

Seems like it should be symmetrical.

This is a common move, I think. The last company I worked for wanted me to sign a nondisparagement agreement. I didn't have to, but I wouldn't get significant severance if I didn't.

They didn't have to offer me severance. They were buying the nondisparagement and other listed restrictions.
