Some of those are creepy --for adults why not make mature elves or gnomes? Even dogs --but seals and babies? It a little disconcerting.

I can imagine in a couple of years, they "reproduce" their lost human companion and program it with a corpus of their writings and recordings to give it something close to the previous person's personality. Creepy.

How do they make them respond quickly enough? ChatGPT often takes 30 seconds or so to answer anything, which would kill verbal communication.

In mobile chatgpt you can tap the headphones and it’ll interactively chat with you via audio - voice recognition and generation. GPT4 Turbo streams tokens fast enough to be at a cadence with spoken words.
