I always thought that founders of Tesla were snubbed from the tesla success spotlight.

But if what you say is actually true - 1% for each $50 billion dollar increment in valuation + no salary and no compensation if stock doesn't increase - than this changes the whole thing. It's like no brainer decision for the founders and other stakeholders to allow Elon running this thing.

Isaacson also wrote a book on Musk and there's a chapter about this pay package and how absurd it was.

Yep, absolutely, all true and verifiable. I also read the Isaacson book and it does confirm this. On a side note, the Isaacson book is really quite tremendous. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it.
