José Rizal: Philippine National Hero and Ophthalmologist

The undoubted Hero of the Modern Philippines is Jose Rizal. Famous intellectual, ophthalmologist, botanist, drawing, painting, sculptor, poet, writer, polymath (22 languages!!), and revolutionary.

Death by execution / Spanish Firing Squad at the young age of 35, this man accomplished so much in so little time.

I was between multiple articles from Wikipedia, Britanica, and some other encyclopedias. This one from Jama Network focuses on Rizal's accomplishments in the field of ophthalmology (his medical profession), but he did so much more than this. The article also has a reasonable review of other subjects, but feel free to research more about this fascinating character.
