Does anyone know what the HDMI forum want to achieve by locking down the spec like this? I can't remember any reasons given back when they decided to restrict publication of future spec updates.
Wild arse guess, but it's probably a) as close to absolute control as they can get, and b) security (of some variety) through obscurity
