It’s easy to change the meaning of sentences when you deprive them of their context.
By your own admission, Max was a creator of Homebrew. I’m not really sure what 1.0 has to do with anything. It’s an arbitrary release name.

So, the guy created the project and stayed for about 5 years.

That’s a small (but recent) example. On most HN Homebrew discussions I still see someone thinking Max is related to it.
