Also it used to depend on the screen having a tuner, with even some companies advertising that they could remove the tuner from your pre-existing TV !

It seems that Internet was also considered as "potential to watch TV", like you can watch TV online, and/or through services provided by set-top-boxes like Freebox.

IIRC that's a later evolution.
