Age of Empires 2 gets another expansion 25 years later

Ars is insane in that they will claim, by setting up reader's likely inference, that Age is getting its first new expansion in 25 years. But will in the same article admit the ~5 it's gotten since 2019.

Why would you assume that? The normal interpretation of “another” is that that there were others before it.

And it's technically not a 25 year old game, since this expansion is only for AoE:DE, not the original...

do you need authentication server to play? I don't think it comes with some kind of DRM.

In that case it shouldn't matter if you host on local network, no? Others on the same network should see the server advertisement and be able to join.

You can't. Thats what I'm saying. The only option is microsoft's matchmaking server.
