Disclosure: I am a Microsoft employee. Also, "white".
Why is this okay?
They're celebrating that they've made pay equitable enough that the variance in pay across protected classes is within 1% which I think is a commendable goal...
It seems like the spin is that this is somehow part of a plan to oppress white men, or something like that. Silly.
For example, let's say I say: I love all white people. If you reverse the color and say: I love all black people. And you aren't offended, it's not racism.
If I were to say: I hate all white people. Some people would say that isn't racist, especially if you are a person of color. But if you take the color and reverse it, they'll say it is racism.
That means it's racist. Period.
