Even in california this will never happen in my lifetime. That said, it’s mostly true that even a _handsome_ 6 figure salary (150-200k) will put you solidly in the middle class in California with many still not really able to afford a home within a reasonable distance from their workplace.
I am a firm believer that lack of education is one of the main problems in the US.
