Test launches are conducted with "dummy" warheads that contain no plutonium or other active nuclear materials. There haven't been any missile tests with live nuclear warheads since the Partial Nuclear Test Ban Treaty of 1963:

And also bad article, the test failed because the dummy warhead gave bad data to the computer, and computer failsafed and shut down
