Candy sells faster than fentanyl in San Francisco's open-air drug markets

If I was in a bad place, I could a good deal on candy being a godsend. Doesn't really spoil either. Wouldn't be shocked if the dopamine rush helps sometimes with "in-between times", though I'm betting it's not gonna do much for withdrawl.
For many years I've been aware that I consume way too much sugar, and I've often labeled myself as a sugar addict to my friends.... But not really... I don't have withdrawal pain when I don't have sugar, I just crave it.
It ruins my skin, spikes my insulin, and has more of a tag-on compounding effect than cannabis, nitrous, alcohol, caffeine or nicotine. If I over indulge sugar two days in a row, it's over. I will have spikes and intense hunger pains, and it will take days of re-regulating to get back to not needing regular spikes of insulin to keep sane. Maybe this is partially related to having previously been overweight, not sure.
It's a drug, and my world has changed as I've changed my relationship with food as a result of religiously reading labels. Also, it's just a war. It's a handful of processed food producers who direct benefit from addicted unhealthy consumers, who have normalized garbage in our diets. I'm tired of being their rube.
It's also very interesting how I can resist the feeling of hunger, but not those sugar cravings
