Hacker News Reader

I remember the thread where people shared their blogs on HN.

Then, someone aggregated all of the feeds they could find in an OPML file, from which I built a site that shows an aggregation of some of the latest blog posts: https://hn-blogs.kronis.dev/

I think RSS is pretty cool! Not many people know this, but even Thunderbird has a built in RSS feed reader, so I don't even need a separate program: https://blog.thunderbird.net/2022/05/thunderbird-rss-feeds-g...

Do you mean this thread: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36575081

this was really cool. there should be a monthly "which blogs got updated this month?" post on HN like the hiring/wants to be hired posts.

Yep, that's the thread the data came from, would be cool to get more up to date data some time. I'm not sure whether enough people start new blogs for it to be a monthly thing, but once or twice per year would be neat!
