In some cases, publishers have accepted that there's a nostalgia-led interest in their old titles, but not to the point that anyone really wants to pay for them, and the titles aren't worth republishing today as their contents are obsolete.
As an example of a very nice publisher, Usborne Publishing (RIP Peter Usborne) is still a major publisher in the UK childrens books market, but it freely allows adults to download PDFs of its old books that taught them about computers 40 years ago: https://usborne.com/gb/books/computer-and-coding-books
Funny because I only recently found my old collection of Australian Hyper magazines from the early-to-mid 90s ... Looking at the covers makes me feel like I'm 10 again, hiding out in the local newsagent. What an era :))
I miss the magazines - somehow, the always on, everything you want nature of the modern internet can't compete with the thrill of getting a magazine once a month and reading and re-reading it cover to cover. Even the advertisements were interesting once you had read everything else two or three times!
