Confronting Briar with Disasters

What's the novelty offered here? It sounds like mesh sounds like broadcasting, and we already have those.

Insofar as severe disasters go, you have to consider the case whereby a whole mobile network is either temporarily or even permanently down.

Does "virtually anything" then also mean things like LoRa and Reticulum [1]?

Superficially Briar and LoRa/Reticulum feel like they could somehow benefit from eachother.
