Does Mozilla not maintain this ppa ? ppa:mozillateam/ppa
There's a separate team that manages the Ubuntu PPA. I don't know how official they are, and what relation they have to the various Mozilla core teams.
I believe the PPA team is composed of Ubuntu maintainers for Firefox + Thunderbird whereas the new repository is supported by Mozilla directly.
