The Mnemosyne Project: An Anki Alternative

I've found that Anki is better for my needs since I'm usually on the go and use my mobile significantly more to consume any content.

I think there's a lot of other users in a similar position and the UI/UX for mnemosyne is stuck in the past for me. AnkiDroid has a more modern feel and while it can be improved it's sufficient.

Aside from that critique, does anyone know about the effectiveness between the two?

Over a decade ago I wanted to make my own web based spaced repetition system and wanted to understand the card scheduling algorithm of different systems. I found the source code for Mnemosyne easier to read than Anki.

Mnemosyne predate Anki by a hair. So Anki is really a Mnemosyne alternative :-)

Are there results or personal experiences if this is better than e.g. the Anki scheduler?

Is there anything thats open source and has a team or classroom function?
