Ask HN: Any Good Reliable iPad Calculator?
since iPad wont release its own calculator, what is the next best thing that you guys find?
Something Simple Intuitive and Quick
PCalc is a legendary application, started as a kind of "Hello World" non-trivial app on the Classic MacOS platform. Since those early days, there has been a PCalc release on every Apple device, using the native SDK.
Meanwhile, it has also gained some features. There are a few configurations to choose from, simple or scientific or RPN mode. You can edit the buttons.
It's a bit quirky, with a special mode for unit conversions, and a "tape" that shows the history of all the calculations, like a paper tape desktop calculator.
As a thing with buttons that helps you bang out a quick calculation, it doesn't suck.
The free ones i downloaded had iaps or bloatware so i thought id just create a simple one for my own use.
Nevertheless, PCalc looks like a full fledged calculator and if i need all the complex things out of it i will surely give it a try.
However, coming back to iPad specific, since before this post i wasnt aware of much, i just thought it'd be easier to diy so im halway creating my own simple ipad calculator, but nothing like whats in the market.
I've actually bookmarked for personal web use what you recommended. Thanks.
Nevertheless thanks for the suggestion. :D
