The nature of international waters is that they are international. Focusing on where the ship was flagged or what the nationality of the crew is a really dumb endeavor. A ship on the ocean is a very useful thing and can have multiple different connections to different countries, but it can still be obvious to anyone asking who is responsible for its safety. In this case, the actions the UK took part of was part of a 12 country joint policing action.

I know the world is not black and white, but you don't have to automatically take the side of the people who literally promise death to the Jews on their flag. The enemy of your enemy might be genocidal anti-democratic maniacs.
But anyway by the same logic, the next turn would be to say it makes sense to fight against that blockade. It wouldn’t make sense to say “oh shucks they did the same thing we did, guess we’ll just give up now”
