Does this provide automatic updates? If not this should not be recommended as it is incredibly dangerous to use a browser that isn't getting updates.

The official instructions provide a way to subscribe to the repo to get updates: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux#w...

I am a professional software developer. I have had Firefox updates disabled for years. I run uBlock Origin with a custom JavaScript whitelist, and it works wonderfully. The only issue I have is when someone is using some bleeding edge web API. in 9 years, I have NEVER had a security issue due to disabled updates.

Stop the scare tactics.

Hope no page you visit contains a malicious WebP image.

How can you know if there was a security issue? If you can not, you can't say there was no issue.

One advantage of installing it this way is that touch input and touchpad gestures work out of the box, since Firefox now uses wayland by default.

Btw, to make the virtual keyboard work in Firefox (and other linux apps) go to chrome://flags and enable the #crostini-virtual-keyboard-support flag.

I can't read the article as the ads is overwhelming.

How come you don't use an adblocker?

I was waiting for the rest of the images to load, good to know they were just ads (using an adblocker)

Wow those ads are intrusive, could barely find the start of the article let alone read it.
