Should I change my work domain?

Its been a year and half as an technical consultant in a small company which as low resource and the management is not at all good. And also i had not intended to become a technical consultant when i was joining this company. Now i do have some understanding like where and which domain to work on but my only problem is i do not have the experience which that new domain is asking for, so is it a good choice to shift to a new domain or continuing this profession? Any professionals who have done this kind of changes in there life is it worth it? Please do comment, thanks in advance for your comments.
