These types of exaggerations do the author favours. If Samantha worked like the demo, it would’ve been a very short movie as the protagonist would’ve quickly become bored or frustrated and returned it.

More importantly, Samantha turned out to not be such a great idea by the end of the movie (as is common in science-fiction). The Torment Nexus joke is ever more relevant.
