I really like how this article exposes the problem recursively first then progressively adds caching, and finally reduces the size of the cache to only what is necessary.

I have often made the mistake of trying to get to the dynamic programming solution directly, and either got stuck or had to go through heroic efforts to get it working. I think from now on, I will force myself to go through the steps in order.
