Ask HN: How to Reduce Screen Time?

2 pointscloogshicer4 comments

Most of my waking time is spent staring at a screen. Both at work and at home (YouTube, Games).

I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for fun things to do that don't involve looking at a screen at all.

Here are a few ideas:

- Listen to podcasts/audiobooks

- Sports, Outdoor activities

- Arts and crafts

- Music

- Reading (though that also causes eye strain)

More ideas?

Cooking, cleaning/home improvement, working out...

Just imagine what you would do if someone took all your screens away for a few hours.

That's a pretty good suggestion for idea generation. Thanks!

I’d say the most important thing that helps me not look at screens, is being together with friends and family.

Other than that, maybe volunteering somewhere could be a good change of pace compared to sitting behind computers all day?

Those are excellent suggestions. Thank you!
