The article is really light on details, to put it nicely.

> optimize networks at a concert for a barrage of social media uploads.”

How is this supposed to work? Any solution I can think of requires adding hardware, and is not a software reconfiguration accessible to the AI.

Building a cache in the ISP network close requires adding hardware.

Fiber networks often have symmetrical bandwidth in the upload and download direction, either using two fibers or two wavelengths. So how do you optimise the upload? The only way I can see this is running ROADMs and adding wavelengths in the upload direction. However this also requires adding transceivers on the router that is client to the ROADM at the venue.

ROADMs + dynamic reconfiguration using domain controllers is the way to go - Nokia has this sort of tech and it's well in-use by large T1 networks. Routers are often pre-patched into ROADM ports and wavelengths on longer spans are add/removed as capacity is needed.

Do they have "unidirectional" transceivers to add more upload? Never heard of that just guessing.

The WiFi RF is FAR more important than the network config.

Here are some longer videos about what Nokia is doing in the AI space.

Is this just LLMs trained on Cisco/Juniper/etc configs?

No, it is about service provisioning on multiple routers at once. The AI uses NSP as a middleman, which in return uses APIs like Netconf, not configs.

I imagine they have mastered the unique subtlety and context for common curse words as they relate to networking in particular.

The solution so many have been waiting for.

I need AI to help me with cooking, not doing my job.....

Just the sort of thing you need voice control for.

This allows people who can not operate a mouse or keyboard to do this task.

Obligatory xkcd:

Seems like ai can revive the dead.
