Hackers discover way to access Google accounts without a password

The morass that is Google's authentication system shows its cracks.

My first thought when I saw this was I'm glad that my email provider is just an email provider and not an everything provider. It is far easier to secure a simple username/password authentication system than the incredibly complicated system that Google now has.

My email is the key to everything in my digital life, and I want the surface area for attacks to be as small as possible.
