Phh... Wealthy PC owners had Pascal and C. In the early 80s, us plebs had 8-bits that ran BASIC or we programmed assembly. Hell, my parents wouldn't even pay for an assembler for my VIC-20 so I programmed 6502 machine code by hand with POKE and DATA statements with the explicit opcodes.
Sure, if your dad was an accountant or something, and let you use his PC, you might have access to Turbo Pascal or something, I dunno. But that was a very expensive machine, and market penetration on 16-bit machines was extremely low until the mid80s.
