Tesla overtaken by China's BYD as biggest EV maker

No surprise there.

Companies grow to match the size of their markets. The Chinese market alone is one and a half times the size of the total combined Western market, and four times the size of the US market.

Naturally the Chinese company will be larger than a Western one.
