A New Year's resolution for tech companies: knock it off with the CAPTCHAs

Is there a reason everyone is still using Google's shitty reCAPTCHA, instead of hCAPTCHA? Cloudflare did a great writeup of their migration back in April 2020:

I want companies to subscribe to _MY_ privately owned 'Identiy `token`' -- In that I want an actionable (by [owner]) request where I am asked exactly what PII is being requested from my Identity Vault, by whom, by what jurisdiction, with what accompanying logs/docs/details/contacts related to who exactly is slurping my doxx.

THAAT is the holy grail.

This would probably be less of a hurdle for people if so many CAPTCHA libraries didn't also have the dual purpose of being used to train AI models

That said, a much better resolution for tech companies would be to stop shoving pop-ups in peoples' faces when they visit a site. I am not going to sign up to your newsletter and I don't care about GDPR cookie consent
