In an ideal world where people are fluent in binary, we would only need 5 pixels. Just imagine how efficient the world could be…

The binary of each pixel on a typical display contains 24 bits which is already plenty to encode the alphabet.

But not CJK characters...

CJK comfortably fits

2^24 is equal to 16,777,216. There are only about 100,000 CJK characters in Unicode, for example.
