My daily driver is a GM car and if there's no car play on new cars anymore i won't be buying GM again, their own software (even the google pieces) are just horrible.

Yeah they don’t even understand the #1 reason CarPlay/AA was desirable in the first place.
That shouldn't affect the drivetrain. The infotainment system definitely has some issues, but something bigger is happening.
