From Apple's perspective, this makes perfect sense. After all, MIT licenses promote code adoption into other products, saving developer effort and decreasing both maintenance cost and time to market. They were never designed to generate revenue for the original author.
In addition, Apple and AMD both sell hardware, and are not competing in the same spaces.
