Threads' Plans for the Fediverse

I'm surprised that they're going forward with this at all.

I personally like it, but to really keep them honest (i.e. avoid what happened to XMPP) will require a lot of interdependence with other services of similar size. It has to be net negative for them to turn off the integration again or they'll manage to profit from the fediverse while potentially also damaging it.
