US Congress pushes warrantless wiretapping decision off until April next year

The US really needs to stop using these omnibus bills. They are massive collections of unrelated things: because some of those things are too important to delay, it's easy to sneak in other things (like FISA), in order to ensure their approval.

Congress really needs to be forced to vote on each separate issue. Side benefit: this would also stop a lot of pork, which is also hidden in those massive bills.

Of course, Congress won't want such a change. They like this mechanism, because it lets them deny responsibility for passing crap. And the issue is probably too abstract to interest most voters. So...
