I'm not a doomer or anything, but companies like Microsoft or Meta need to be watched closely, especially when they get their hands on some breakthrough. If this breakthrough is big enough, then maybe "maximizing value for shareholders" and "extracting every penny of value from it" are not the greatest responses to what are their "aims and interests".
